Home decor to improve sleep hygiene

All the time we’re hearing how important our sleep hygiene is! I won’t deny that making small changes to your routine can lead to better and more efficient sleep, but today we want to focus on what we can change in our bedrooms as there are a number of improvements that you can make to your bedroom to help promote better sleep. Here are some suggestions:

Keep the room cool: A temperature of around 17°-20° Celsius degrees is generally recommended for optimal sleep. Use a fan or air conditioner to keep the room cool.

Reduce noise: If your bedroom is noisy you can start with permanent change: seals for doors and windows to reduce the noise, but if it fails you can consider using earplugs, a white noise machine, or a fan to help mask the sound.

Control light: Make sure that your bedroom is as dark as possible. Use blackout curtains or shades to block out outside light, and avoid using electronic devices that emit light, such as smartphones or tablets, in the bedroom.

Comfortable bedding: Invest in high-quality bedding, including a comfortable mattress, pillows, and sheets. Choose bedding that feels good against your skin and that supports your body well.

Declutter: A cluttered bedroom can make it harder to relax and fall asleep. Keep your bedroom tidy and organized, and avoid using it as a workspace or storage area.

Relaxing colors: Consider painting your bedroom in soothing, muted colors like blue or green, which are known to promote relaxation and sleep.

Consider aromatherapy: Certain scents, such as lavender or chamomile, are believed to promote relaxation and sleep. Try using essential oils or candles with these scents in your bedroom.

Remember that everyone’s sleep needs are different, and it may take some experimentation to find what works best for you
